Primary children don't know enough about cancer.
2. What we are going to do?

3.How?
By showing a keynote presentation to year six students.
We will call and email the primary's we wish to go to and ask them if we can come. Then we will arrange a day and go on that day.
4.Who will be responsible for what things?
We will all be responsible for a different slide on the presentation each.

8.Individual Reflection
Alosina Nua:
I really liked going to Pigeon Mountain. The children were all so enthusiastic, and asked questions which challenged even us. I was amazed that the kids all remembered our names and even had a go at spelling them! It was a great opportunity and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Harriet deJong:
I enjoyed going to Pigeon Mountain and talking to the kids about cancer, the kids were so much fun and were really friendly. I was very surprised at their ability of their drawings. It was rather difficult because we all had forgotten our scripts with our information on it so we had trouble talking about our topic. It was a great experience and I had loads of fun. :)
Kate Hobbs:
I was really blown away with the questions that were asked by the students, and found their drawings very good for children of their age. They were all incredibly friendly, and were happy to allow us to sit next to them, and would talk to us about their drawings and had a very open conversation with them about cancer.
Daily Reflection.
16/10.
Today we decided that we will be talking to primary students, (we would like to talk to year fives or sixes) about the seriousness of cancer, although we want it to be child friendly, as not to scare them too much about cancer. We want to go to either Mellons Bay, Owairoa or Point England.
17/10.
As we aren’t sure which ones will take us, and if they don’t reply or won’t have us, we have decided to contact Pigeon mountain primary as our back-up plan, although we wont contact them just yet.

Mellons Bay and Owairoa haven't replied, so we have emailed Pigeon Mountain. Point England replied saying that they would love us to come, although we don't know of we are going to go, as it is quite a while away and we don't know if we have any transport to get there. We discussed our options of what to do at the primary/primary's, and we would like to do a presentation and maybe a hands on task too.
22/10.
Today we got a reply from a senior teacher at Pigeon Mountain called Ms Hampton, saying that we would be very welcome to come to Pigeon Mountain, we have emailed her asking if we can come in sometime either this, or next week. Still no reply from Owairoa or Mellons Bay.
23/10.
Harri and Kate called Mellons Bay and Owairoa today, while Sina worked on our presentation. Harri was asked to call back again on Monday. And Kate talked to the deputy principal, who told her that she would get on to Mr McIntyre (the principal) to reply to our email.

These are some emails too and from Ms Hampton.
Us:
Pigeon Mountain Primary,
We are three year eight students from BBI, room 11 called Alosina Nua, Harriet deJong, and Kate Hobbs.
Our class has been divided into groups for inquiry learning, our task is to make a positive change in the community we live in.
We have chosen to educate year 5/6 students about cancer in younger people (Canteen).
We were wondering if we could inform some children at your school about the seriousness of cancer and that it can affect anyone at any age, as most primary students aren’t aware of this.
We would really like to come to your school, please reply
Sincerely,
Kate, Alosina and Harriet

Ms Hampton:
Hi Alosina, Harriet, and Kate
My name is Ms Hampton. I am the senior teacher for the Year 6 team. We would be happy to have you come and talk to us about the seriousness of cancer. How were you planning to do this? Did you want to speak to one class only, all 4 classes together, or the 4 classes separately? How much time do you need for your talk? When were you thinking of coming to give the talk? Would you need any equipment (e.g., data projector, OHT etc)?
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Ms Hampton :)
Us:
That's awesome! Thank you very much!
We have prepared a slide show with the most common types of cancer and fact files on the three most common in NZ, we were planning on doing something hands on for the kids as well, like making their own bandana, or designing one. Two classes would be great, although we are happy with how ever many you are prepared to 'lend' to us. About an hour and a half sometime next week. We can make it anytime next week that you are free. Yes, we would need a data projector for the slide show.
Thank you very much! :)
Kate, Sina, Harri
Us:
On friday 31st october would we be able to come over after your morning tea finishes? Untill 12. Because we have to be back just a little before 12. Would that suit you?
Ms Hampton:
Sure .... That would be at 11.00 :)
Us:
Okay that sounds good, thank very much. .. Looking forward to visiting.
Ms Hampton:
Great:)
Us:
So were is it you would like us to meet you?
Ms Hampton:
In the music room. No access to internet, so bring a memory stick :)
